LEAD HARDWOOD FLOOR SANDING AND REFINISHING TECHNICIAN

Refined Floors is hiring an experienced hardwood floor sanding and refinishing technician for a full-time, year-round W-2 position in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Pay and Schedule


  • $22 to $30 per hour based on verified experience and skill level
  • Monday through Thursday
  • Four 10-hour workdays
  • Three-day weekends
  • Paid holidays

Experience Required


Applicants must have professional hardwood floor sanding and refinishing experience. Thiss is not an entry-level position.

right candidate must be experienced with:


  • Belt Sanders
  • Edgers
  • Buffers and multidisc sanding equipment
  • Dust containment systems
  • Staining hardwood floors
  • Applying sealers and waterborne finishes
  • Natural and stained floor systems
  • Preventing chatter, waves, edger marks, sanding lines, and finish defects
  • Identifying jobsite problems bbefore they affect the finished defects
  • Maintaining a clean and organizes jobsite


Experience using Bona equipment, stains, sealers, and finishes is strongly preferred.

responsibilities may include


  • Lead hardwood sanding and refinishing projects
  • Direct and work alongside sanding assistants
  • Inspect floors and determine the correct sanding process
  • Perform stain samples and apply stains evenly
  • Apply sealer and finish according to manufacturer requirements
  • Complete minor repairs and hardwood lacing when needed
  • Protect customers' homes throughout the project
  • Communicate jobsite concerns before proceeding
  • Maintain company equipment and vehicles
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality results without rushing the work

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation to our Williamsburg location
  • At least two verifiable professional references
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Professional behavior in customers’ homes
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a crew

Experience Required


Applicants must have at least three years of full-time professional flooring installation experience. Flooring installation must have been your regular occupation—not occasional projects, general remodeling work, or a few completed floors.

  • LVP and laminate installation
  • Carpet tile installation
  • Stair runner installation
  • Hardwood lacing and flooring repairs
  • Stairs and landings
  • Demolition and subfloor preparation
  • Molding, shoe molding, quarter round, and transitions
  • Sanding and refinishing hardwood floors
  • Protecting customers’ homes and maintaining clean jobsites
